About Give Autism The Boot

In June of 2006, a major fund raising campaign, Give Autism the Boot! (GATB) was developed and executed by The Great Lakes Center for Autism (GLCA). The primary concept of GATB is to place local rescue workers along with civilian volunteers in high traffic stores and strategically located intersections to collect donations.  GATB secures corporate sponsorships, in kind donations, local media support, and volunteers in the community to run this two day event.  Nearly all money collected is distributed right back into the local community to provide additional services, programs and support for families affected by autism.  Since 2006, the GLCA through the Give Autism the Boot! campaign has distributed over $225,000 to 17 different organizations that serve those affected by autism.

Now in it's 4th year, through a strong media partnership with WTOL Channel 11, strong corporate and community partnerships such as The University of Toledo, ProMedica Health Systems, and Mercy Health Systems, Give Autism the Boot! is a well branded fund raising campaign within Northwest Ohio.
